hriOnline is the section of the Humanities Research Institute that coordinates and implements ICT components of the HRI’s activities. It performs the following functions:
- hriOnline offers a specialist ICT development and implementation service to both the Arts and Humanities Division of the University of Sheffield and to external customers. It offers a ‘cradle to grave’ service and will advise and assist on all aspects of a project from funding application to final delivery. This service is usually charged.
- hriOnline will provide access as appropriate to specialist digital and technical facilities in order to support research activities in the Arts and Humanities Division.
- hriOnline seeks to encourage and facilitate new research projects within the Arts and Humanities Division involving the innovative use of ICT.
- hriOnline identifies and helps take forward potential funding opportunities for the Arts and Humanities involving the use of ICT, and will pay an active part in Knowledge Transfer activities.
- hriOnline seeks to increase awareness within the HRI and the Arts and Humanities Division of ways in which ICT can support and impact on the conduct of Arts and Humanities Research. As part of this function it seeks to identify and disseminate information on new technologies of relevance to Arts and Humanities researcher.
- hriOnline will seek to play an active part in the humanities computing community both nationally and internationally and will work with the HRI to build appropriate strategic links.
